Principal Platform Engineer

About the role

Shopware is looking for a Principal Platform Engineer to build and operate their data platform, which serves as the infrastructure for data ingestion, storage, and runtime environments. You will be responsible for the architecture and reliability of the platform, enabling service teams and management to leverage data effectively while ensuring technical compliance and governance. This role focuses on technical leadership and infrastructure excellence rather than personnel management.

Responsibilities

• Manage CDC data ingestion via DMS/Lambda into S3 and maintain raw schemas and data contracts.
• Oversee the orchestration platform built on Terraform, Step Functions, EventBridge, and Glue.
• Operate and provide the data catalog infrastructure using OpenMetadata.
• Provide and maintain Superset for data querying and visualization.
• Establish observability and operational excellence using Datadog, incident response, and SLOs/SLIs.
• Implement architectural requirements for data governance, retention, and access control.
