Staff Software Engineer, Privacy Engineering

About the role

Discord is seeking a Staff Privacy Engineer to join the team in Amsterdam to shape privacy within products and operations. The role involves leading privacy initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. You will design privacy-preserving solutions and act as a subject matter expert to advance the company's privacy posture.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver the roadmap for the Privacy Engineering Amsterdam team by defining priorities and driving initiatives across stakeholders.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Data, and Legal teams to conduct privacy impact assessments and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Develop actionable data privacy policies and monitor controls to ensure adherence to industry frameworks.
• Design privacy-preserving product solutions and identify opportunities to advance the company's privacy posture.
• Lead privacy impact analysis on production incidents and direct technical validation of remediations.
• Scale central privacy systems and mentor other engineers to multiply the team's impact.
