Engineering Manager

About the role

TrustFlight builds software for aviation operators and is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of six to eight engineers. This role focuses on people and systems leadership, coaching individuals, and owning the processes, tooling, and infrastructure that enable the team to deliver high-quality work. The postholder will help shape engineering practices across a growing department and ensure the team maintains high standards in a safety-critical environment.

Responsibilities

• Raise the performance bar with every hire and promotion through coaching and development plans.
• Manage performance fairly and decisively, setting clear expectations and addressing underperformance.
• Act as the chief unblocker for the team by improving tooling, infrastructure, testing, and process flow.
• Own testing standards, quality consistency, and the definition of release criteria.
• Architect cross-team developer tooling and drive consolidation of the technology estate.
• Lead the team's adoption of AI-assisted development while maintaining security and accountability standards.
• Establish consistent engineering practices across the organization, including levelling and calibration.

Qualifications

• At least three years' experience as a dedicated people manager of software engineers
