Senior Software Engineer, Backend - Distributed Systems

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Distributed Systems team, you will help build and evolve the durable, highly available, and horizontally scalable streaming platform that powers Camunda 8. You will lead engineering initiatives, partner with cross-functional teams to influence platform evolution, and ensure the reliability of mission-critical processes for global customers.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services for the distributed streaming platform.
• Lead medium-to-large engineering initiatives end-to-end from technical requirements to delivery.
• Mature disaster recovery and resilience capabilities, including backup/restore APIs.
• Design developer and operator tooling to improve system observability and troubleshooting.
• Improve engineering effectiveness by collaborating on CI, testing, and development workflows.
• Participate in L3 support and on-call rotations to resolve complex production issues.
