About the role
AI Field Engineers at Fireworks act as the technical tip of the spear, embedding with customers to turn complex AI problems into production systems. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer delivery, requiring hands-on coding for POCs and MVPs alongside executive-level strategy and architecture discussions. You will be responsible for shipping code, running benchmarks, and translating customer pain points into product improvements.
Responsibilities
- Build end-to-end POCs and MVPs alongside customer engineering teams within their codebases and infrastructure.
- Architect inference foundations and size deployments to ensure scalability for customer products.
- Run load tests and tune deployments to meet latency, throughput, and cost targets.
- Deploy and validate new model families on inference frameworks like vLLM and SGLang.
- Guide customers on model selection, fine-tuning strategies, and evaluation methodologies.
- Lead discovery conversations to identify customer pain points and define success criteria.
- Translate recurring customer feedback into concrete product proposals and internal tooling improvements.
