About the role
Hive is seeking a pragmatic, hands-on Legal Counsel to manage all legal matters across the company. This role involves drafting and negotiating contracts, managing fundraising documentation, overseeing IP strategy, and advising on employment law. The successful candidate will act as the primary point of contact for legal questions, balancing legal protection with business velocity in a fast-paced startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage entity structure, governance, and fundraising legal work including term sheets and share purchase agreements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts such as MSAs, DPAs, and vendor agreements.
- Develop and maintain template contracts and playbooks to enable business self-service.
- Own IP strategy and protection, ensuring airtight IP assignment across the organization.
- Advise on employment law matters across multiple jurisdictions and manage employee relations.
- Oversee outside counsel relationships and budgets, ensuring efficient execution of specialized legal work.
