About the role

GiveDirectly is seeking a Legal Counsel to build its Business Affairs capability and serve as a primary legal partner to global functions. The role involves structuring complex corporate, commercial, and charitable relationships while navigating regulatory questions as the organization grows. You will lead legal strategy for data partnerships and provide practical advice on legal and business risks across various teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary legal partner to global functions including Partnerships, Finance, and Technology.
  • Structure, draft, and negotiate complex corporate partnerships, funding arrangements, and technology agreements.
  • Advise on corporate, commercial, employment, privacy, and nonprofit regulatory matters.
  • Build templates, playbooks, and repeatable approaches for recurring legal work.
  • Advise on the structure and administration of significant gifts and fundraising arrangements.
  • Lead legal strategy for data partnerships, including data privacy and telecommunications regulation.
  • Coordinate external and local counsel for jurisdiction-specific support.
