Staff Engineer - Business Spend

About the role

The Staff Engineer will join the Business Spend segment to help build and scale procurement to pay services, including invoices, purchase orders, and supplier management. This role involves owning the architecture of Business Spend, leading complex data migrations from legacy systems, and improving the reliability of payment flows. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across multiple teams to ensure consistent decision-making and high-quality software delivery.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Engineering Manager to own and be accountable for the whole architecture of Business Spend.
• Own significant parts of supplier data migration, moving logic out of a legacy service into a dedicated one without downtime.
• Improve the reliability of invoice payment flows to reduce failure rates.
• Turn the new vendor data model into working software across cards, invoices, and accounting.
• Help teams make consistent technical decisions through design documents, code reviews, and architecture forums.
• Raise the performance of the team through pairing, review, and clear technical documentation.
