Staff Software Engineer

About the role

Robinhood is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join the Exchange Platform team, which manages the full service lifecycle for the Bitstamp exchange. You will define the technical vision and architectural roadmap for platform modernization, leading the development of high-availability, low-latency cloud infrastructure for a global financial ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Architect Strategic Infrastructure: Define and drive the long-term architectural vision for high-availability, low-latency cloud platforms.
• Lead Modernization at Scale: Spearhead multi-quarter modernization initiatives, driving the transition of foundational services to resilient, containerized cloud environments.
• Direct High-Stakes Integrations: Lead the technical alignment and distributed architecture bridging Bitstamp’s exchange backend with Robinhood’s global infrastructure.
• Eliminate Operational Toil & Technical Debt: Architect self-healing systems and intelligent automation to reduce operational load.
• Exercise Systemic Ownership: Take end-to-end accountability for ambiguous, high-impact technical initiatives.
• Foster Technical Leadership & Culture: Mentor senior engineers and establish engineering best practices.
• Uphold Platform Resilience: Act as a senior escalation point for high-severity incidents and lead post-mortems.
