Sr. Staff Machine Learning Systems Engineer

About the role

Hims & Hers is seeking a Senior Staff Machine Learning Systems Engineer to lead the development of trustworthy AI/ML systems within a regulated healthcare environment. You will own the end-to-end evaluation infrastructure, including data pipelines, model scoring, and red-team testing, to ensure AI models are safe and effective. This leadership role involves setting technical direction, navigating complex cross-team challenges, and establishing reusable standards for AI evaluation across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for evaluation systems, including metric, judge, and scorer design and statistical methodology.
• Design and scale data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, dataset versioning, and labeling.
• Lead multi-team initiatives to replace manual processes with automated, statistically sound gates.
• Develop adversarial and red-team evaluation programs to identify safety and edge-case issues.
• Drive alignment across engineering, product, and AI leadership to resolve complex technical disagreements.
• Mentor engineers and establish best practices for evaluation methodology and data pipeline design.
