Platform Engineer

About the role

As one of the first platform engineers, you will build the foundational systems for an AI efficiency venture, including gateways, routing, billing, and European infrastructure. You will work directly with the founder and CTO to turn architectural decisions into reliable production systems while contributing to ML-focused tasks like evals and model serving. This role requires a hands-on approach to building and running systems in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment.

Responsibilities

• Build a consistent API across model providers with reliable streaming and error handling
• Develop caching, history compression, and model selection for cost optimisation
• Build accounting systems for model calls, usage reports, and invoice reconciliation
• Support agent infrastructure including tool calls, cost limits, and service integrations
• Maintain workspace isolation, secure authentication, and encrypted key management
• Operate cloud infrastructure including GPU capacity for open-weight models
• Ensure production reliability through observability, safe releases, and data integrity
