Director, Data Science - Payment Performance

About the role

The Director of Data Science will lead the Fraud and Acceptance teams to create a unified strategy for payment performance. This role involves overseeing the end-to-end model lifecycle, ensuring scientific rigor, and driving measurable business impact through real-time decisioning at scale. As a player-coach, you will manage a distributed team while remaining technically involved in design reviews and strategic technical choices.

Responsibilities

• Set a unified Data Science strategy across fraud and payment optimization.
• Own the end-to-end model lifecycle from experimentation to production performance.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to prioritize roadmaps and define technical standards.
• Lead, coach, and develop a distributed team of Data Scientists.
• Act as a technical sounding board for senior scientists and contribute directly to design reviews.
• Identify new scientific methods to create competitive advantages in payment performance.
