Engineering Manager - Observability

About the role

The Engineering Manager for Observability will lead and develop a distributed team of backend and frontend engineers focused on the Ingest team's mission. This role involves managing the configuration and deployment tooling for Grafana Cloud, including Fleet Management, Kubernetes Monitoring Helm Charts, and the Instrumentation Hub. You will foster a culture of innovation and psychological safety while ensuring technical alignment with product goals and customer success.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a team of backend and frontend engineers, providing regular feedback and supporting career growth.
• Collaborate with go-to-market teams to ensure customer success with observability collection.
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to integrate Fleet Management, Helm Charts, and the Instrumentation Hub into the user experience.
• Provide guidance throughout the project lifecycle from ideation through planning, execution, and post-launch.
• Foster a psychologically safe environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
• Work across team boundaries to contribute to projects outside the immediate team scope.
