Senior Data Engineer, Ads

About the role

Discord is seeking a seasoned Data Engineer to drive the technical vision and strategy for its advertising product data. In this role, you will build and maintain sophisticated data pipelines, datasets, and analytical tools to support machine learning initiatives and advertising products. You will collaborate closely with Data Science, Machine Learning, and product teams to transform advertising through data-driven insights.

Responsibilities

• Design and own core ads data models including fact/dim tables, canonical datasets, and aggregation layers.
• Build and maintain ML data for ads ranking, delivery, and targeting, including feature development and label generation.
• Build conversion measurement pipelines and integrate third-party attribution data.
• Build batch and near real-time pipeline infrastructure using BigQuery, dbt, and Dagster.
• Develop data quality frameworks, monitoring systems, and automated anomaly detection for ads pipelines.
• Identify foundational data infrastructure gaps and design scalable, canonical solutions.
• Drive alignment across cross-functional teams by connecting infrastructure decisions to business outcomes.
• Mentor engineers through technical challenges, code reviews, and project ownership.
