About the role
The Web Dependability Engineering team is responsible for ensuring websites function seamlessly across DuckDuckGo browsers on Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android. As a Senior Web Compatibility Engineer, you will serve as the resident expert on web compatibility, debugging complex issues, leading incident responses for site breakage, and developing durable fixes. You will own the web compatibility triage process and contribute to projects that prevent user churn and improve the overall browsing experience.
Responsibilities
- Own the web compatibility side of the triage process.
- Debug complex issues in third-party code to distinguish between site bugs, browser bugs, and privacy protection-induced breakage.
- Lead incident response efforts when top sites break.
- Ship durable fixes across all supported platforms.
- Reverse-engineer obfuscated third-party code and reduce issues to minimal test cases.
- Build agentic tooling and automate repetitive work to improve team impact.
