About the role
Proxima Fusion is developing the world's first commercial stellarator fusion power plant and is seeking a skilled technician to support the build, assembly, integration, and testing of complex hardware. You will work hands-on with components, magnets, and mechanical assemblies, collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to turn ambitious designs into reliable hardware. This role involves solving practical challenges on the shop floor and contributing to the development of processes and tooling for the Alpha project.
Responsibilities
- Run acceptance and characterization tests across incoming HTS tape, cables, and completed coils.
- Prepare and identify test articles by cutting, soldering, terminating, mounting, and fixturing.
- Install sensors, voltage taps, feedthroughs, and measurement wiring with careful grounding and shielding.
- Set up and operate dimensional inspection equipment, electrical instruments, high-current supplies, and vacuum systems.
- Carry out critical-current, joint-resistance, and high-voltage insulation tests.
- Maintain full traceability of sample identity, test configuration, and raw data.
- Troubleshoot test setups, wiring, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
- Commission new fixtures and support failure investigations through post-test inspection.
