About the role
Focused Energy is seeking a Working Student to join the control-system team within our Laser organization. In this role, you will work directly with control systems engineers on the practical, hands-on aspects of building and testing the systems that operate our laser platforms.
Responsibilities
- Support the control-system team with implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation of control-system components.
- Help investigate issues affecting system progress and follow them through to resolution.
- Maintain and improve control-system documentation, test records, interface descriptions, I/O lists, cable schedules, wiring documentation, test procedures, and commissioning records.
- Work closely with electrical, mechanical, controls, and laser engineers to bring an instrumentation system for high energy lasers into reliable operation.
- Support integration and verification activities for laser-related systems.
- Contribute hands-on in a fast-moving, experimental engineering environment.
- Proactively flag risks, blockers, and deviations early to your technical lead.

Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
