About the role

Spreedly is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function and drive the modernization of financial systems and processes. The role involves overseeing core accounting operations, managing revenue recognition for usage-based contracts, and partnering with cross-functional leaders to build a scalable operating environment. The ideal candidate will leverage automation and AI tools to improve efficiency while ensuring data integrity and audit readiness.

Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting function, with responsibility for accurate books and a timely, consistent close
• Oversee core accounting areas including financial statements, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, revenue recognition, treasury, tax, and audit
• Own and improve the accounting systems stack, including NetSuite, Orb, and Ramp, ensuring data integrity across integrations
• Assess current workflows and implement practical systems automation and AI-enabled processes
• Build scalable processes and controls that support the company as it grows, including SOC 2 / audit readiness
• Navigate accounting for usage-based contracts, including commitments, overages, and billing in arrears
• Review SaaS and usage-based customer contracts for revenue recognition impact under ASC 606, partnering with Legal and Sales on rev rec-sensitive terms
• Lead and develop the accounting team, including determining the most effective reporting structure
