Manager I, Engineering - Language Platform

About the role

Datadog is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the evolution of their open-source SDKs, which serve as the foundation for their APM and observability products. You will manage a team of library engineers, driving technical excellence and collaboration across language teams to deliver high-performance instrumentation. This role requires a balance of people leadership and hands-on technical contribution to ensure the platform meets the company's scale and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead, grow, and develop a team of library engineers through coaching and direct feedback.
• Own team delivery, productivity, planning, milestones, and reviews.
• Collaborate with product teams to reshape platform capabilities and deliver open-source APM instrumentation.
• Apply technical judgment and contribute code to maintain high standards for quality and architecture.
• Build relationships and drive alignment across language, product, and backend teams.
• Shape team identity and culture.
