About the role
The Structural & Thermal Engineer will take full ownership of structural analysis and thermal subsystem design for satellite instruments. This role involves turning CAD designs into analysis models to ensure hardware survives launch and orbit conditions. The engineer will manage the entire lifecycle from initial FEM mesh creation to final thermal-vacuum testing.
Responsibilities
- Define requirements and load levels for payload units
- Build structural FEM models of satellite systems and subsystems directly from CAD
- Run static, modal, random vibration, sine and shock analyses
- Plan and execute environmental test campaigns including vibration, shock, and thermal vacuum testing
- Build and run satellite thermal models based on CAD and power consumption profiles
- Define thermal control strategies including MLI design and heater circuit sizing
