Data Analytics Engineer

About the role

The Data Analytics Engineer will drive business impact by building a robust data foundation for Toptal's analytics function. This role involves owning the data transformation layer, ensuring data governance, and creating a data environment that supports informed decision-making. You will work within the Business Analytics Center of Excellence to foster trust in data through rigorous modeling, quality control, and the integration of AI-driven workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, review and ship SQL models across repositories to transform raw data into usable data products.
• Own and maintain the data transformation layer and data dictionary.
• Proactively monitor the data warehouse to identify opportunities for improving data accuracy, quality, and usability.
• Translate ambiguous business requirements into modeled data by establishing business rules and grain.
• Implement measures to improve data quality, lineage, access, and retention across production databases.
• Diagnose and resolve data incidents and provide code reviews for teammates.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists to enable data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
• 4+ years of experience in an Analytics Engineer, Data Engineer, or Data Analyst role
