About the role

Laelaps is seeking a simulation engineer to lead the development of digital twins for autonomous security robots. You will build pipelines to convert lidar maps into simulation-ready environments, enabling the training and testing of multi-robot patrol policies. This role focuses on creating realistic sensor simulations and scalable training environments to ensure seamless sim-to-real transfer.

Responsibilities

  • Develop pipelines to convert lidar maps into simulation-ready digital twins including geometry, semantics, and materials.
  • Create reinforcement learning environments for robot skills such as patrol and search.
  • Generate rare event scenarios including intrusions, weather, and sensor failures.
  • Implement realistic RGB, thermal, and lidar sensor simulations.
  • Measure and minimize the sim-to-real performance gap on physical deployments.
  • Scale simulation infrastructure to support parallel training on GPUs.
