About the role
The Backend Platform team is responsible for building the foundational infrastructure and developer tools that empower other engineering teams at Close. You will focus on creating paved roads for API development, enhancing cloud-based development environments, and integrating AI-driven workflows to improve engineering productivity. This role involves setting architectural patterns and building shared services that ensure high performance, observability, and reliability across the platform.
Responsibilities
- Expand DevDawg and Spice cloud development environments and automated review tooling.
- Build paved roads for the API layer including REST blueprints, GraphQL schema, and authentication plumbing.
- Modernize the backend framework layer and manage migration paths for web and async compute frameworks.
- Own production observability, metrics, and alerting standards.
- Ship shared backend services and primitives such as eventing patterns and database migration guardrails.
- Set constraints and guardrails for coding agents to ensure safe code merging.
