Senior Software Engineer

About the role

The appliedAI Initiative is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help shape the future of AI in Europe. You will focus on the engineering discipline required to make AI solutions production-ready, building robust software around AI cores and ensuring systems are operable within enterprise IT landscapes. You will work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team to set technical standards and guide engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Designing the technical approach for system slices from build through deployment and operation.
• Shaping development workflows including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release management.
• Building services, APIs, data pipelines, and infrastructure as code using Python and Azure.
• Ensuring solutions are operable with a focus on observability, security, and cost transparency.
• Providing specialist guidance through design and code reviews.
• Communicating technical trade-offs clearly to senior stakeholders.
