Security Engineer

About the role

Augustus is building a modern bank from the ground up and is seeking a Security Engineer to own security end-to-end across application, infrastructure, and incident response. You will partner with product and platform teams to define security in a greenfield environment, ship security automation, and lead high-quality incident response. This role reports to the CISO and focuses on measurable risk reduction while maintaining high product velocity.

Responsibilities

• Enforce an SSDLC that codifies security goals across payment and ledger services.
• Stand up an AI-native product-security review pipeline to auto-triage code and dependency findings.
• Expand baseline coverage for workload identity hardening, secret management, and runtime audit logging.
• Drive remediation to closure with clear risk tradeoffs.
• Influence architecture decisions through lightweight risk reviews and pragmatic controls.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in hands-on security engineering, product security, cloud security, or detection/response engineering in production environments
• Demonstrated expertise securing cloud-based systems and CI/CD pipelines
• Proven experience building at least one security automation or detection capability used in production
• Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or another regulated environment
