Sr. Staff Machine Learning Systems Engineer

About the role

Hims & Hers is seeking a Senior Staff Machine Learning Systems Engineer to lead the development of trustworthy AI/ML systems within a regulated healthcare environment. This role involves owning the end-to-end evaluation infrastructure, including data pipelines, model judges, and red-team testing, to ensure AI safety and effectiveness. The successful candidate will set technical direction, drive cross-team initiatives, and mentor engineering staff to establish reusable standards for AI evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for evaluation systems including metric, judge, and scorer design and statistical methodology.
• Design and scale data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, dataset versioning, and labeling workflows.
• Lead multi-team projects to replace manual processes with automated, statistically sound gates.
• Own adversarial and red-team evaluation programs to identify safety and edge-case issues.
• Resolve complex, cross-team technical disagreements to drive alignment across engineering and product leadership.
• Architect core systems and modernize platform infrastructure to improve organizational efficiency.
