Senior Backend Engineer – Agentic Systems

About the role

You will build the production backbone that enables Forward Deployed AI Engineers to turn agentic workflows into secure, reliable, and scalable customer solutions. This role involves designing backend services, APIs, and distributed systems while establishing platform primitives and governance patterns to accelerate deployments. You will ensure production reliability and develop observability capabilities to monitor quality, cost, and latency.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services, APIs, asynchronous workflows, and distributed systems.
• Create robust orchestration patterns for agentic systems including tool calling, stateful workflows, and context management.
• Build and maintain integrations with enterprise systems and SaaS applications using OAuth, webhooks, and SDKs.
• Ensure production reliability through resilient error handling, rate-limit management, and audit logs.
• Develop evaluation and observability capabilities including trace capture, quality metrics, and structured logging.
• Establish shared platform primitives, templates, and security standards to protect customer data.
