Staff Data Engineer

About the role

MoonPay is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to provide technical leadership for its data platform. You will design and evolve systems that power analytics, product insights, and machine learning while ensuring scalability, reliability, and regulatory compliance. This role requires a balance of high-level architectural decision-making and hands-on implementation to support the company's value movement infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Set and evolve the technical direction of the data platform across streaming, batch processing, warehousing, and machine learning enablement.
• Lead the design and delivery of complex, cross-team initiatives from architecture to implementation.
• Build core platform capabilities including real-time pipelines, shared tooling, and scalable data infrastructure.
• Establish and champion golden paths to enable secure and efficient development across teams.
• Improve platform reliability, performance, and cost efficiency as data volumes grow.
• Partner with Security, Compliance, and Product teams to ensure operational and regulatory requirements are met.
• Mentor senior engineers and raise technical standards through design and code reviews.
