Vice President of Engineering

About the role

The VP of Engineering will lead the engineering organization and oversee the development of the company's AI-native industrial materials platform. This role involves executing a major architectural transition, integrating agentic AI into core trade systems, and scaling a high-leverage engineering team. The successful candidate will partner with product and operations leadership to ensure reliable, automated, and scalable systems that support global trade.

Responsibilities

• Build and integrate AI agents into a holistic, orchestrating layer across sourcing, pricing, sales, and logistics.
• Lead the carve-out of the transaction core into a modern, modular platform while maintaining zero disruption to daily operations.
• Manage and grow the engineering organization, including onsite teams in Berlin and nearshoring staff.
• Define and enforce engineering standards, security guardrails, and human-in-the-loop controls for automated systems.
• Partner with the Chief Product Officer on roadmap feasibility, data integrity, and technical due diligence.
• Foster a culture of ownership, speed, and craftsmanship while maintaining a hands-on approach to technical problem-solving.
