Senior Site Reliability Engineer I

About the role

Site Reliability Engineers at Braze are responsible for maintaining internal-facing services and platforms to ensure consistent system reliability and maximum infrastructure uptime. This role focuses on supporting the Braze Ruby on Rails monolith and Go API services by partnering with product engineering teams to build resilient, scalable technology stacks. You will manage ingress fleets and API ingestion layers, applying sound engineering principles and automation to production environments.

Responsibilities

• Configure, tune, and operate high-performance NGINX routing, proxying, and ingress controller layers.
• Own, expand, and tune automated scaling routines for high-throughput, API-based services using RED metrics and HPA.
• Partner with product engineering teams to translate requirements into resilient, highly available, and scalable technology stacks.
• Establish Service Level Indicators and Objectives for API services and manage error budgets.
• Conduct systems design, bottleneck profiling, and capacity planning to ensure enterprise-grade SLA compliance.
• Participate in a PagerDuty on-call rotation to resolve alerts and update runbooks.
• Lead root-cause analysis and blameless retrospectives for availability and performance incidents.
