About the role
The Senior Industrial Designer will define the hardware identity and physical form of humanoid robots, ensuring they are safe, functional, and aesthetically cohesive. This role involves managing the design process from initial sketches and physical modeling to final CAD handoff for engineering. You will work closely with founders and engineers to integrate complex internal systems while maintaining a focus on human-machine interaction and safety.
Responsibilities
- Define the visual identity, proportions, and surfaces of humanoid robots.
- Design for passive safety by managing clearances, pinch points, and contact surfaces.
- Integrate internal components such as sensors, cameras, and cooling systems into the design.
- Develop physical cues and touchpoints for human-machine interaction.
- Extend the design language to include charging docks, transport cases, and maintenance gear.
- Create physical models and final surfacing CAD for engineering production.
- Select materials and finishes while coordinating with suppliers on feasibility and cost.
