About the role
You will own the optimization models for an Energy OS that manages energy assets for large European companies. This role involves end-to-end responsibility for capacity expansion planning, dispatch, and production scheduling, reporting directly to the CTO. You will bridge the gap between complex mathematical models and real-world plant operations.
Responsibilities
- Own capacity expansion planning over multi-year horizons, dispatch at quarter-hour resolution, and MIP production scheduling.
- Formulate models for storage, thermal networks, transmission, flexibility, and self-consumption.
- Optimize model performance by tightening big-Ms, scaling models, and deciding on decomposition strategies.
- Implement smart data reduction techniques including time series clustering and segmentation.
- Model grid fees, levies, tariffs, and balancing power constraints.
- Develop test cases and fixtures to ensure model accuracy and diagnose infeasibility.
- Define inputs and outputs with product engineers and manage model runs on Kubernetes.
