Lead Enterprise Architect

About the role

Intelance is seeking a freelance Lead Enterprise Architect to conduct a fixed-scope technology review for a professional services firm. The role involves mapping the technology estate, identifying risks, and presenting strategic options to the Chief Operating Officer. There is an optional follow-on phase to serve as an interim architect for the client.

Responsibilities

• Lead the review from the initial meeting to the final presentation as the primary client contact.
• Analyze existing integration documents, system lists, and project records.
• Conduct interviews with heads of applications, IT operations, data, client solutions, and the project office.
• Create a comprehensive map of the technology estate including systems, connections, data flows, and ownership.
• Trace recent technology decisions to identify their origins and current status.
• Produce a priority risk report and three costed options for technology governance.
• Present findings and recommendations to the Chief Operating Officer.
• Establish a technology decision forum and prepare initial decision documentation during the follow-on phase.

Qualifications

• Experience as a lead or head of enterprise architecture in a professional services firm of 1,000+ people
• Proven experience setting up an architecture function, design authority, or technology decision forum from scratch
