Lead Controls & Data Engineer

About the role

DeWarmte is seeking a Lead Controls & Data Engineer to take ownership of the control software and data platform for their heat pump technology. This hands-on leadership role involves writing production code, improving system reliability, and evolving the architecture while building and mentoring a team to eliminate key-person dependency. You will collaborate across hardware and software teams to ensure products perform effectively in customers' homes.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve control software for heat pumps including design, testing, and deployment.
• Manage controlled software rollouts and establish automated testing and release practices.
• Build and maintain the product data platform to ensure observability of fleet trends.
• Define clear interfaces between device software, cloud systems, and internal tools.
• Create documentation and repeatable engineering practices to support team scaling.
• Recruit, onboard, and mentor controls, embedded-software, and data engineers.
