Backend Engineer — Agent Experience

About the role

The Agent Experience team builds AI-powered backend services that support agent-assist tooling on the Astra support surface. This role involves designing and implementing feature-level backend services that integrate with LLM-backed features to help support agents resolve issues more efficiently. You will work at the intersection of product features and high-volume, latency-sensitive infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services for agent-assist features on Astra.
• Translate requirements into working code, including designing approaches and writing RFCs.
• Integrate with LLM-backed features by managing prompt/completion calls and validating output quality.
• Break down project work into tasks, provide estimates, and manage progress and dependencies.
• Apply AI tooling to your own workflow while critically evaluating its output.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain high standards of correctness and quality.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and partner teams to clarify requirements and flag risks.
