Software Engineer (Python) — Programmable Networking

About the role

Telnyx is seeking a senior engineer to work at the intersection of software and networking, building customer-facing APIs that manage real-world infrastructure. You will design API resources, develop orchestration control planes, and automate network deployments across a global fleet of routers. This role requires a deep understanding of async Python, Go, and network routing protocols to own products from the developer-facing specification down to the device configuration.

Responsibilities

• Manage public REST APIs for network resources including resource modeling and OpenAPI specification maintenance.
• Develop orchestration control planes using Python and asyncio to handle resource allocation, job queues, and deployment runners.
• Implement network automation using Ansible and Jinja2 to manage Linux and VyOS nodes.
• Integrate with cloud interconnect providers like Equinix, AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Maintain Envoy-based data planes using Go and xDS control planes.
• Handle production monitoring, alerting, and incident resolution across application and network layers.
