Optimization and Forecast Engineer - Energy Systems

About the role

FION Energy is looking for an engineer to join as an early hire to develop the forecasting and optimization core of their platform. You will build models that forecast industrial electricity consumption and PV generation, and design the optimization logic that manages battery dispatch against market tariffs and grid constraints. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on development, working directly with the CTO.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve time-series forecasting models for industrial electricity consumption and PV generation.
• Evaluate forecast quality on noisy, incomplete, and non-stationary industrial data.
• Develop and improve optimization models for battery dispatch across peak shaving, self-consumption, and market trading.
• Design workflows that integrate forecasts, uncertainty measures, and physical constraints into optimization processes.
• Build simulation, replay, and benchmarking workflows to test model behavior.
• Design, write, test, and deploy production-grade code for mission-critical forecasting and optimization products.
