About the role

Autodesk is seeking an experienced Software Architect to join the AEC Data organization and define the cloud-native services and distributed-systems architecture powering the AEC Data Model. This senior individual-contributor role focuses on shaping design standards, reference architectures, and governance across multiple teams rather than owning a single service. The architect will collaborate with product teams to enable the continuous flow of data across the built-asset lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Design and evolve API surfaces across AEC Data services to ensure coherent contracts.
  • Define and evolve cross-team, cloud-native architecture including distributed systems and event-driven flows.
  • Design, document, and evolve data schemas for AEC domain entities including semantic models and relationship hierarchies.
  • Establish standards, reference architectures, and reusable components while authoring architecture decision records.
  • Evaluate alternative architectural directions through modeling and prototyping to de-risk key decisions.
  • Mentor engineers and fellow architects on emerging technologies and architectural practices.
  • Ensure reliability, security, and performance of systems by defining SLOs and driving observability.
  • Communicate architecture through clear diagrams and executive-ready narratives.
