Engineering Manager, Scientific Software

About the role

The Engineering Manager will lead a team of scientific software engineers responsible for building applications that transform raw atomic force microscope scan data into 3D measurements. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management to shape software strategy and drive delivery within a cross-functional organization. The software developed must be robust and reliable, operating in offline semiconductor fab environments.

Responsibilities

• Leading, mentoring and developing a team of scientific software engineers
• Owning the team’s software strategy and evolving image-processing algorithms and application architecture
• Coaching team members through 1:1s, appraisals, hiring and career development
• Planning, tracking and reporting progress in collaboration with project leads
• Managing technical debt and balancing delivery speed against maintainability
• Improving engineering processes using Agile and Lean practices
• Reviewing code and unblocking algorithm and architecture decisions
• Collaborating with R&D, Systems Engineering, Product and Applications teams
