About the role
The design engineer will own the Writer Design System, ensuring it is optimized for both human developers and AI agents. This role involves building production-quality UI components, maintaining technical documentation, and upholding high standards for front-end craft and accessibility. You will partner with designers, product managers, and engineering leads to improve design-to-code workflows and ensure consistent product delivery.
Responsibilities
- Own the Writer Design System (WDS) and ensure it is optimized for both humans and AI agents
- Design and build production-quality UI components and features from sketch to ship
- Architect new primitives and extend core components while maintaining documentation across Figma and Storybook
- Uphold standards for front-end craft, including accessibility, motion, and consistency
- Research and implement tools to improve design-to-code workflows across the organization
- Partner with cross-functional teams to measure WDS adoption and ensure feature quality
