About the role

Canonical is seeking an exceptional software engineer to join their networking team, focusing on ToR switches, SmartNICs, and DPUs. You will work on integrating open source networking software into a cohesive stack, collaborating with silicon providers to optimize Ubuntu for various hardware platforms. The role involves contributing to upstream projects, designing software-defined networking solutions, and ensuring high-quality, secure, and performant code for data center and IoT environments.

Responsibilities

  • Work with advanced operating systems and network application technologies
  • Participate upstream and deliver the Ubuntu SoNIC stack
  • Collaborate with public clouds and network silicon providers
  • Design and implement software-defined networking experiences for the data center
  • Write high-quality, well-designed, fast, secure and well-documented software
  • Debug issues and produce high-quality fixes
  • Collaborate proactively with a globally distributed organization
  • Contribute to technical documentation and influence open-source projects
