About the role
Canonical is seeking a software engineer to redefine the Linux experience in embedded environments by developing a secure and updatable operating system for the IoT market. You will design and implement software for various CPU architectures, focusing on boot mechanisms, bootloaders, storage partition layouts, and kernel services. This role is an opportunity to work on open source projects that power enterprise initiatives in fields such as IoT, automotive, and aviation.
Responsibilities
- Write high quality code with unit tests to create new features
- Debug Linux system level issues and produce high quality code to fix them
- Collaborate proactively with a distributed team
- Review code produced by other engineers
- Discuss ideas and collaborate on finding good solutions
- Integrate diverse bootloaders and maintain gadget snaps
- Work from home with global travel 2 to 4 times a year for internal and external events
