Software Backend Engineer

About the role

Alma is looking for a backend engineer to build and maintain the payment infrastructure that powers transactions for millions of consumers and thousands of merchants. You will collaborate with product and tech leaders to evolve the technical architecture while ensuring the platform remains resilient, secure, and performant. This role involves working within a cross-functional squad to solve complex challenges in a regulated fintech environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop APIs and backend components for payment processing.
• Write maintainable, production-grade code meeting high security and performance standards.
• Collaborate with product and tech leaders to evolve technical architecture.
• Lead incident response and performance troubleshooting to ensure platform reliability.
