About the role
Alta Ares is seeking an Avionics Electronics Engineer to design, develop, and integrate electronic subsystems for high-performance unmanned aerial systems. The role involves owning the full hardware lifecycle from schematic capture and PCB layout to bench testing and flight integration. You will work in a cross-functional environment to support rapid design iterations and field deployments for defense applications.
Responsibilities
- Design and integrate avionics and electronic subsystems for unmanned aerial systems.
- Manage schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection with a focus on SWaP-C.
- Define electrical architecture, power distribution, and harnessing for airframes.
- Lead bench, hardware-in-the-loop, and environmental testing of avionics.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, power, signal integrity, and EMI/EMC issues.
- Manage component supply chain, obsolescence, and second-sourcing.
- Produce design documentation, BOMs, and interface control documents.
