Account Director, Government

About the role

The Account Director will lead OpenAI's public-sector initiatives across Australia and New Zealand, with additional responsibilities for priority opportunities in the APAC region. This role involves building trusted relationships with government leaders, executing account strategies, and managing the full sales cycle to drive the adoption of AI solutions. The successful candidate will act as an accountable customer lead, coordinating across internal teams to ensure mission-aligned outcomes and successful deployment.

Responsibilities

• Own a focused portfolio of ANZ public-sector accounts while developing priority opportunities in APAC.
• Build and execute comprehensive account plans mapping mission priorities, stakeholders, and procurement paths.
• Drive complex opportunities through the full sales cycle from pipeline generation to closure and expansion.
• Lead public-sector customers through their AI adoption journey and identify high-impact use cases.
• Translate technical and strategic concepts between government stakeholders and internal product teams.
• Serve as the accountable customer lead for engagements, coordinating with technical specialists to ensure milestones are met.
• Navigate public-sector procurement, tendering, security, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications
