Backend Engineer - Acquisition Technology

About the role

You will be the first engineer on the German side of the Acquisition Tech team, owning the customer acquisition systems that determine how iwoca reaches and converts small businesses. You will work closely with product managers, data scientists, and commercial teams to build backend systems, integrate third-party APIs, and deploy data models into production. This role involves shaping the technical strategy and architecture for the German market while collaborating with the UK-based engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Own the German side of the acquisition stack, including lead-value signals, bidding, and attribution.
• Shape the long-term technical roadmap, architecture, and scaling strategy.
• Collaborate with marketing and data science to optimize funnels across paid search, direct mail, and outbound sales.
• Integrate third-party APIs to improve sign-up friction and lead data quality.
• Build and maintain pipelines, databases, and REST APIs, including internal sales tooling.
• Engineer features for data scientists and manage the production deployment, versioning, and monitoring of models.
