About the role

Appen is seeking a Director of IT & Automation to lead the IT function and drive the operational strategy for an AI-native company. This senior leadership role involves managing enterprise technology, security, and automation initiatives while building a high-performing team. The successful candidate will partner with senior leadership to align technology investments with business goals and leverage AI to optimize IT operations.

Responsibilities

• Set the IT roadmap across enterprise technology, support, security and automation.
• Lead IT support, endpoint management and major incident response.
• Own the health, configuration and integration of core enterprise technology environments.
• Manage IT's role in SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance and audit readiness.
• Implement AI and automation to improve IT operations and employee experience.
• Manage the technology vendor portfolio, including selection, negotiation and cost optimisation.
• Build and develop a high-performing IT team.
