About the role

The Publication Ethics Senior Editor investigates and resolves publication ethics cases for all PLOS journals. This role supports journal teams, contributes to policy development, and engages in initiatives to uphold the integrity and reliability of scientific publications.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve publication ethics cases efficiently and in line with PLOS standards and COPE guidance.
  • Address escalations and queries about publication ethics issues to prevent reputational damage.
  • Contribute to team-level and cross-functional initiatives, including policy updates and workflow development.
  • Support journal staff editors in resolving ethics issues during manuscript handling, peer review, or post-publication.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders including authors, editorial leads, and board members.
  • Maintain awareness of cross-industry issues and attend COPE Forums.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of team members.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD in a scientific discipline

  • First-hand experience resolving publication ethics cases in STM publishing
  • Post-graduate research experience in a scientific, clinical, or social sciences discipline
