About the role
Hyca Heat is a deep-tech startup developing patented heating technology that combines catalytic combustion with electrical heating to decarbonize the process heat industry. We are seeking an experienced engineer to lead the design and development of high-temperature electrical heating systems for our process gas heaters. You will be responsible for the core of our systems, optimizing the heating element which serves as both a heat source and a catalyst carrier.
Responsibilities
- Design electrical resistance heaters and process gas heaters including surface load, temperature, and heat transfer calculations.
- Select materials based on real-world gas atmospheres considering oxidation, carburization, and other chemical influences.
- Design heating element structures to serve as catalyst carriers, balancing geometry, surface area, and coating adhesion.
- Manage thermomechanical integration including thermal expansion, creep, cycle fatigue, and flow guidance.
- Conduct testing, system measurements, and failure analysis, and manage the transition from prototype to series production.

Qualifications
