Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Upbound is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build and operate Upbound Spaces, the management software at the core of the Upbound Platform. You will work on scaling the platform to support thousands of control planes while extending enterprise management capabilities in both cloud and on-premises environments. This role involves significant impact across both development and production operations.

Responsibilities

• Actively build and operate Upbound Spaces in production and contribute to open-source projects like Crossplane.
• Take ownership of building high-demand features and delivering new functionality for users.
• Investigate and debug complex issues in customer environments, including performance bottlenecks and resource reconciliation problems.
• Create design documents for new initiatives and conduct post-incident reviews to drive system improvements.
• Support the full project lifecycle for scalable services, from architecture and design to production-readiness and operational support.
• Write and maintain Go code interfacing with the Kubernetes API with a focus on observability and operational excellence.
• Participate in on-call rotations to support Upbound Cloud and resolve incidents.
